Standard Categories

In addition to our fan-selected categories, we include some of the most popular recommendation requests on r/Dramione automatically. By including the categories listed below survey, the community collaboratively builds an amazing, every-growing reading list for anyone new to r/Dramione or to Dramione as a whole.

  1. Hogwarts Era: Fics about going to wizard school! The characters are students, and the majority of the story takes place at Hogwarts. Seventh Year / Eighth Year AUs are welcome!
  2. War Era: Fics centred around the Second Wizarding War with Voldemort around the time that would have been the Trio’s seventh year at Hogwarts. Includes Deathly Hallows rewrites and canon deviations starting around the same time.
  3. Post-Hogwarts Era: Fics in which the characters are no longer Hogwarts students and the story’s focus is unrelated to the Second Wizarding War with Voldemort.
  4. Short Fics: Shorter than 15k words, completed only
  5. Novellas: 15-50k words, completed only
  6. Novels: 50-200k words, completed only
  7. Epics: Longer than 200k words, WIPs welcome
  8. Dark AUs: These fics imagine worlds built upon the suffering, oppression, and exploitation of a group/groups of people, often under totalitarian regimes. Examples: Voldemort Wins AUs, Blood Purity AUs, The-Good-Guys-Won-But-Things-Are-Still-F\*cked AUs
  9. Non-Dark AUs: Fics which take place in worlds distinctly different to the Potterverse (but without an evil regime in power). Examples: Muggle AUs, Fairytale AUs, Omegaverse, Sci-Fi, Crossovers, etc.
  10. Smut-Free: Fics without descriptions of sexual content. Fade-to-black / implied smut is welcome.
  11. Smut, Lemons, and Spice: This is porn 🙂
  12. Podfics: Fan-made audio fics. Podfics of older works are welcome as long as the podfic itself has been updated after 1 December 2023.
  13. Visual Media Fics: Works that rely heavily on visual content. Examples: graphic, comic, multi-media, full-illustration, video.
  14. Text / Socmed Fics: Stories told via mobile device messaging between characters.
  15. Grand Debuts: The first Dramione fic written by the author (no self-recs please).
  16. WIPs to Follow: Incomplete works with less than 500 kudos (no self-recs please).
